The Society currently comprises the following divisions:
- Presidium of the Society
- Academic Council
- Audit Commission
- Board of Trustees
Only full members of the Kazakh Geographical Society are eligible to be elected to these divisions.
Presidium
- Organizes work to implement the decisions of the congress, the Board of Trustees, and the Academic Council.
- Together with the chairman of the Presidium, determines the areas of activity of the deputy chairmen of the Presidium and their job responsibilities.
- Maintains relations with geographical societies of foreign states and other foreign and international organizations.
- Approves the divisions’ decisions on admission to and expulsion from membership of the Society.
- Convenes scientific conferences.
- Reviews matters relating to the acquisition and operation of the library and archive.
Academic Council
- Approves the composition of expert commissions, including the awards commission.
- Submits candidates to the Board of Trustees for the award of medals, prizes, and honorary diplomas.
- Recommends candidates to the congress for the title of Honorary Member of the Association.
- Nominates candidates for election as members of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other academies.
Audit Commission
Oversees and is responsible for the Society’s financial and business operations. Elected by the congress.
Board of Trustees
- Assisting the Society’s leadership in strengthening its material and technical base.
- Assisting in organizing and achieving the Society’s statutory goals.
- Carrying out other activities in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
