Nauryz Run 2017: Welcoming Spring on the Run
A family running event in Almaty brought together 550 participants, combining sport, Nauryz traditions and charitable giving.
On 19 March 2017, Nauryz Run took place in Almaty’s First President’s Park. Organised by the Kazakh Geographic Society and the Fidelity fitness club network, the event celebrated Nauryz and encouraged people to embrace an active lifestyle.

A Run for the Whole Family
The event welcomed 550 runners, including approximately 100 children. Young athletes in the 6β9 and 10β12 age groups ran first, followed by older participants.
For some, Nauryz Run was their first organised running event. For others, it offered an opportunity to test their fitness ahead of upcoming races. The family format encouraged participants to spend an active day together and support their loved ones at the start and finish.

Sport and Nauryz Traditions
The programme combined running, a group warm-up and festive entertainment. Guests enjoyed hot tea, baursaks and sweets, while a traditional yurt provided a setting for photographs.
Finishers received commemorative medals. Prizes included Fidelity memberships and gifts from KazGeo, such as fitness trackers, headphones and other gadgets.

A Charitable Purpose
The organisers announced that the funds raised would support the “Dom Mamy” charity, also known as “Mother’s Home.” Taking part offered runners an opportunity to contribute to a social initiative.
