Tolegen Tastanbekov

Tolegen Tastanbekov is the President of the Kazakh Geographic Society and an organizer of expedition and public projects. His work involves preparing expeditions, coordinating with participants and partners, and developing KazGeo’s research initiatives.

He took part in the organizational work behind the 2016–2017 Antarctic expedition “Pole of Independence.” Together with Sergey Bodrov, he ran the project’s support headquarters, backing the team throughout. The expedition combined a climb of the Vinson Massif, a ski route to the South Pole, and a scientific program. In Tolegen’s work, travel becomes a shared endeavor of athletes, researchers, and people ready to support new discoveries.
