Snow Leopard Rescue Project

The Kazakhstan National Geographic Society actively engaged in national and international initiatives to rescue, study, and preserve the snow leopard (irbis)—the majestic predator of the high-altitude ecosystems of the Tien Shan and Zhetysu, serving as a living symbol of wildlife and ecological health in Kazakhstan.

Scientific Monitoring and Protection

As part of the conservation project, KazGeo experts installed high-tech automated camera traps in the most inaccessible mountain gorges and animal migration paths. Detailed analysis of population size and food supply was conducted. The Society also assisted in equipping reserve inspectors and combating poaching.
