‘Uly Dala Eli’ Expedition β€” Off-Road Expedition Designed to Strengthen Kazakhstani Identity and National Unity

The large-scale off-road expedition ‘Uly Dala Eli’ was initiated and implemented by the Kazakhstan National Geographic Society as part of a comprehensive state program to strengthen Kazakhstani identity, consolidate society, and promote the rich historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of the Great Steppe.

The Spirit of Nomadic Civilization and Modernity

The expedition route spanned the most remote corners of the republic β€” from the endless steppes of Saryarka and the semi-deserts of the Aral region to the majestic mountain ranges of Altai and Zhetysu. Traveling in specialized expedition vehicles, the team explored ancient architectural monuments, sacred sites, unique ecosystems, and protected zones. The project bridged the spirit of ancient nomadic civilizations with the technologies and pace of modern Kazakhstan.

Dialogue with the Regions

In each region along the route, participants held open meetings with local residents, ethnic-cultural associations, school students, and researchers. The ‘Uly Dala Eli’ expedition became a living embodiment of the idea of national unity, emphasizing that Kazakhstan’s diverse cultures and traditions rest on a shared historical foundation and deep respect for the native land.
